NIKLAS PASCHBURG – Intervista al musicista su Europavox Festival 2019
In occasione dell’Europavox Festival 2019 al Teatro Comunale di Bologna, ho intervistato l’artista tedesco NIKLAS PASCHBURG.
Quali sono stati i primi ascolti che ti hanno indirizzato verso la musica?
Ho iniziato a suonare il piano quando avevo 5 anni e ho iniziato subito a suonare con la musica classica. Prima ovviamente versioni semplificate di pezzi di Mozart, Beethoven o Bach.
Il tuo strumento preferito è il pianoforte, quale è il tuo rapporto con l’elettronica?
Negli ultimi anni il rapporto con l’elettronica è diventato sempre più importante per me. Ho comprato il mio primo sintetizzatore quando avevo 18 anni. Da lì in poi non sono più riuscito a fare a meno del sintetizzatore e della musica elettronica.
I luoghi da cui provieni influenzano la tua visione musicale sognante?
Mi ha sicuramente influenzato. La più grande ispirazione che ottengo proviene da ciò che mi circonda. Ho iniziato nella mia città, Amburgo, anche nel Mar Baltico, dove ho trascorso la maggior parte delle mie vacanze quando ero più giovane e poi nelle campagne della Germania meridionale.
Da cosa prendi ispirazione per comporre la tua musica e cosa intendi trasmettere con la tua musica affascinante al pubblico?
Come dicevo prima, amo trarre ispirazione da luoghi in cui sto viaggiando o vivendo. La natura è davvero la parte principale dell’ispirazione. Ma anche le persone e la sensazione generale che ottengo dai luoghi sono fonte d’ispirazione per me. Le canzoni che registro quindi sono storie dei miei viaggi, esperienze e questo è ciò che voglio raccontare al pubblico.
Tu hai già suonato in Italia?
Sì, parecchie volte negli ultimi 2 anni, ma sarà la mia prima volta a Bologna stavolta.
Come sei arrivato a partecipare al Festival Europavox?
L’Europavox Festival mi ha chiesto un paio di settimane fa se volevo suonare al loro festival, e sono stato molto felice di aderire a questo invito.
Il Festival Europavox è portatore degli ideali europei, come vedete il momento sociale che noi stiamo vivendo?
Nel momento in cui affrontiamo il cambiamento climatico o la crisi dei rifugiati, penso che sia importante parlare tutti insieme delle soluzioni. E in termini di, ad esempio, “Venerdì per il futuro”, è bello vedere come le persone si stanno riunendo in tutto il mondo per lottare per un futuro migliore.
Cosa prometti al pubblico che verrà a vederti nello storico Teatro Comunale di Bologna?
Porterò l’ascoltatore in un viaggio dall’oceano alle Isole Svalbard vicino al Polo Nord. E spero di poter avvicinare il pubblico il più vicino possibile a questi luoghi.

What were the first plays that led you to music?
I’ve started playing the piano when I was 5 years old and I think I’v started pretty much in the beginning with classical music. First of course simplified versions of pieces from Mozart, Beethoven or Bach.
Your favorite instrument is the piano, what is your relationship with electronics?
Over the last years the relationship with electronics became more and more important to me. I bought my first synthesiser when I was 18 years old. From there on I can’t get enough from Synthesizer and electronic synthesis.
Do the places you come from affect your dreamy musical vision?
It definitely affect me. The biggest inspiration I get is from the surrounding where I am. Started in my hometown Hamburg, also the Baltic Sea where I spent most of my holidays when I was younger and later on the countryside of south Germany.
What do you take inspiration from to compose your music and what do you want to convey to your audience with your fascinating music?
As I said before I love to take inspiration from places where I’m travelling to or living in. The nature is indeed the main part of the inspiration. But also people and the general feeling what I get from places are an inspiration for me. The Songs which I record then are stories from my travels. experiences and that is what I wanna tell the audience.
Have you already played in Italy?
Yes quite a few times in the last 2 years but it’s gonna be my first time in Bologna now.
How did you get to participate in the Europavox Festival?
The Europavox Festival asked me a couple of weeks ago if I wanna play at their festival and I was very happy that we could make it happen.
The Europavox Festival is the bearer of European ideals, how do you see the social moment we are experiencing?
In times where we face the climate change or refugee crisis I think It is important to talk all together about solutions. And in terms of for example “Fridays for Future” it is beautiful to see how people are coming together around the world to fight for a better future.
What do you promise the public that will come to see you in the historic Teatro Comunale of Bologna?
I will take the listener on a journey from the Ocean to Svalbard an Island close to the North Pole. And I hope I can get the public as close as possible to these places.
