INFECTED RAIN – Intervista alla cantante Lena Scissorhands

Con la sua gentilezza, sensibilità e simpatia, la bella Lena Scissorhands, cantante della band nu metal moldava Infected Rain, mi dà il benvenuto nel camerino dell’Estragon poco prima dello spettacolo e si scusa per il mal di gola che comunque non influenzerà l’ottimo concerto.

Ciao Lena, benvenuta sulle pagine di Tuttorock, prima di tutto, come stai?
Ciao Marco, sto molto bene, grazie!

 Avete iniziato questo tour con due importanti band come Eluveitie e Lacuna Coil, sei felice di essere sul palco con loro?
Sì, è sicuramente un grande onore per noi!

Come sono nate le canzoni del vostro fantastico quarto album “Endorphin”, pubblicato lo scorso 18 ottobre?
Abbiamo registrato queste canzoni molto tempo fa, sono nate dalle emozioni e da un sacco di duro lavoro proprio come le canzoni che sono venute prima di loro. Ciò fa sempre parte della nostra vita.

Hai scritto tu tutti i testi?
Sì, li ho scritti io.

Con la canzone “The Earth Mantra” hai voluto dare un ulteriore messaggio a proposito della distruzione del pianeta da parte della razza umana?
Esatto, purtroppo è una situazione molto folle.

Parli di “falsi re che marciscono sui loro troni” nella canzone “Black Gold” e c’è un inno alla fiducia nella canzone “Symphony of Trust”, oggi è così difficile fidarsi di qualcuno o qualcosa?
Sfortunatamente sì. In realtà è un’esperienza che sto vivendo da anni e sono rimasta delusa da molte persone che ho amato e da molte persone con cui ho iniziato a lavorare in maniera più gentile, più fedele, senza mentire. Quindi è stata una scoperta molto dolorosa per me vedere che alcune persone vicine ci mentono davvero. Mentono a se stessi, ecco perché ho scritto questa canzone.

Confermi i vostri temi molto seri anche con la canzone “Victims”, siamo tutti vittime di questo assurdo sistema della società di oggi?
Credo di sì. Purtroppo siamo in un certo senso molto bloccati. Anche quando vogliamo essere noi stessi e vogliamo fare qualcosa di nuovo, qualcosa di innovativo, la società non lo accetta perché ci sono già alcuni esempi di come vogliono che tu sia.

Nella canzone “Taphephobia” parli di depressione, ho capito bene?
Esatto.

 Siete attivi da oltre dieci anni, sei contenta di come le cose sono andate finora?
Sì! Molto! Abbiamo avuto alti e bassi e abbiamo imparato molto da loro. Sono molto orgogliosa di dove siamo al momento.

C’è qualche artista o band di oggi che ti piace particolarmente e con cui ti piacerebbe collaborare?
Oh sì, molti! Penso che il mio sogno sia quello di fare una canzone con Chino Moreno (il frontman della band Deftones – ndr).

Com’è la scena musicale nel vostro paese, la Moldavia?
Sfortunatamente non è buona. La Moldavia è un paese molto povero che non offre alcuna possibilità soprattutto per le giovani generazioni. È quasi impossibile avere qualsiasi tipo di supporto da parte del governo o persino da parte del popolo. Abbiamo suonato molto raramente in Moldavia perché non abbiamo club in cui possiamo farlo.

Che cosa pensi dell’Italia?
Io amo l’Italia! Avete il miglior vino, la migliore pasta! La mia famiglia vive in Italia, a Roma, ho fatto l’università lì. Ho sicuramente un posto speciale nel mio cuore per l’Italia.

Grazie mille! Tutto quello che voglio dire è di non essere pigri, noi viaggiamo molto attraverso i paesi, attraverso le città, per favore venite ai nostri concerti, potrete divertirti ed assistere ad un bello spettacolo, non restate seduti a casa!

With her kindness, sensibility and sympathy, the beautiful Lena Scissorhands, singer of the Moldavian nu metal band Infected Rain, welcomes me in the Estragon’s dressing room just before the show and apologizes for the sore throat which anyway will not affect the very good concert.

Hi Lena, welcome on the pages of Tuttorock, first of all, how are you?
Hi Marco, I’m very good, thank you!

You have started this tour with two important bands like Eluveitie and Lacuna Coil, are you happy to be on stage with them?
Yes, it is definitely a big honor for us!

How were the songs of your amazing fourth album “Endorphin”, released last October, 18, born?
We recorded these songs way long ago, they are born from emotions, from a lot of hard work just like the songs before them. It’s always part of our lives.

Did you write all the lyrics?
Yes, I did.

With the song “The Earth Mantra” did you want to give a further message of how human race is destroying this planet?
Exactly, it is a very crazy situation unfortunately.

You talk about “false kings rotting on their thrones” in the song “Black Gold” and there is a hymn to the trust in the song “Symphony of Trust”, is it so difficult today to trust someone or something?
Unfortunately yes. It is actually an experience that I’m having for the past years and I’ve been disappointed by many many people that I loved and many people I started work kinder and more really stick and not lying. So was a very painful discovery for me to see that the closes people we have actually lie to us. They lie to themselves, that’s why I wrote this song.

You confirm your very serious themes also with the song “Victims”, are we all victims of this absurd system of today’s society?
I think so. Unfortunately we are in a way very stuck. Even when we want to be ourselves and we want to do something new, something innovative, the society doesn’t accept this because there are already certain examples of what they want you to be like.

In the song “Taphephobia” you talk about depression, did I understand correctly?
Yes.

You have been active for over ten years now, are you happy with how things have gone so far?
Yes! Very much! We had ups and downs and we learned a lot from them. I’m very proud where we are at the moment.

Is there any artist or band of today that you particularly like and with whom you would love to collaborate?
Oh yeah, many! I think my dream is to make a song with Chino Moreno (the frontman of the band Deftones – Editor’s note).

How is the music scene in your country, Moldova?
Unfortunately is not good. Moldova is a very poor country that doesn’t give any possibility especially for younger generation. It’s almost impossible having any kind of support from the government or even from the people. We played so rare in Moldova because we don’t have clubs where we can play.

What do you think about Italy?
I love Italy! You have the best wine, the best pasta! My family lives in Italy, in Rome, I did the University there. I have a special place in my heart for Italy for sure.
