DREAM THEATER – Lost Not Forgotten Archives: The Majesty Demos (1985-1986)
“Uscita numero 6 e prima del 2022 della serie Lost Not Forgotten Archives. Anche stavolta ci troviamo tra le mani un prodotto uscito per la Ytse Jam Records nel 2003. I Dream Theater prima di chiamarsi così si chiamavano Majesty, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy, Kevin Moore e John Myung già avevano le idee ben chiare sulla strada da percorrere. Allora giovanissimi ma molto preparati tecnicamente e già con una cultura musicale già ricca e ben definita. Molti dei brani sono strumentali e si sente una passione unica che univa questi giovani ragazzi, ovvero i Rush e Mike Portnoy che ha sempre inseguito Neal Peart, quelli cantati erano affidati alla voce di un Chris Collins dotato di una voce molto versatile e acuta ma giovane ed inesperta, una collaborazione che finì con questi demo. Ebbene si, demo, di questo si tratta, “The Majesty Demos (1985-1986)” racchiude i demo che la band presentava alle varie label e non potevano mancare alcune cover dei Rush, come l’immortale e meraviglioso strumentale “YYZ”. Da li a poco la band iniziò a farsi conoscere cambiando nome in Dream Theater reclutando un nuovo cantante, Charlie Dominici, il resto è storia, ma da qui tutto iniziò. Il disegno di copertina è diverso dalla prima versione ma esce per la prima volta anche in doppio vinile 180 gr., gioia per ogni fan della progressive metal band statunitense.
