SEA WOLF – Intervista al cantante

In occasione dell’uscita del nuovo album “THROUGH A DARK WOOD” ho intervistato il cantante SEA WOLF.

“THROUGH A DARK WOOD” è un disco pieno di fantasmi, chitarre liquide e riverberi. Perché hai scelto questo titolo e cosa significa per te?
Il titolo si riferisce a una sorta di viaggio dell’eroe attraverso un pericoloso “bosco oscuro”, come un antico mito. Si riferisce alla raccolta di brani che truccano l’album, essendo stati tutti realizzati e scritti durante un certo periodo di tempo – un periodo durante il quale ho attraversato un metaforico “legno scuro” nella mia vita. 

Qual è stato il fattore più importante per la disposizione del disco?
Blood Pact è sempre stata la canzone iniziale, tutta la band ha concordato presto su questo, e Two of Us sembrava il finale naturale. Quindi, ciò che è accaduto nel mezzo dipendeva dalla sensazione di come le canzoni scorrevano da una all’altra, l’argomento della canzone e il tentativo di mantenere il senso di un viaggio globale – come il viaggio dell’eroe – dall’inizio dell’album alla fine. 

Dovresti fare un concerto a tema dopo la quarantena. Quale tema sceglieresti?
Penso che un concerto / festa a tema baccanale sarà in ordine. 

Qualche idea sul tuo prossimo costume di Halloween?
Qualcosa con una maschera? 

Il miglior paese in cui hai suonato (tranne gli Stati Uniti)?

“THROUGH A DARK WOOD” is a disc full of ghosts and liquid guitars and reverberations. Why did you choose this title and what does it mean for you?
The title refers to a kind of hero’s journey through a perilous ‘dark wood’, like an ancient myth. It refers to the collection of songs that makeup the album, having all been made and written during a certain period in time – a time during which I passed through a metaphorical ‘dark wood’ in my own life. 

What was the most important factor for the arrangement of the disc?
Blood Pact was always the beginning song, the whole band agreed early on about that, and Two of Us seemed the natural ender. So what happened in between depended on the feeling of how the songs flowed from one to the next, the song subject matter and trying to keep the sense of an overarching journey – like the hero’s journey – from the beginning of the album to the end. 

You should make a themed  concert after the quarantine. Which theme would you choose?
I think a bacchanal themed concert / party will be in order. 

Any ideas about your next halloween’s costume?
Something with a mask?

Italy!
