Il 23 aprile 2021, il vostro nuovo album “The Promise of a Life” sarà pubblicato su etichetta Icons Creating Evil Art.

Love

** ENGLISH VERSION **

On the occasion of the release of the new album “The Promise of a Life”, scheduled for Friday 23 April on Icons Creating Evil Art label, I had the pleasure of interviewing Ludvig Turner, singer and guitarist of the Swedish alternative rock band Reach, which he himself has founded 10 years ago with Marcus Johansson (drums).

Hi Ludvig, welcome to the pages of Tuttorock, how are you doing in general?

Hello & Thank you for inviting us! We’re all good but we miss performing of course, it’s been a long year but it feels like the end of horrors! (Famous last words)

On April 23, 2021, your new album “The Promise of a Life” will be released on the Icons Creating Evil Art label. When did you write the 10 songs?

So, we wrote around 30 ideas that we went through before putting the album together. Some of those were written just after we recorded ”The Great Divine” wich was about 3 years ago.

How is your song usually born?

From a demo or just a nice vocal line. It really differs. The Law was a song written from that Riff you hear throughout the whole tune while “Promise of a life started” of with a melody and a lyric to What became the chorus of the song.

In your songs there are many influences, starting with “New Frontier”, with whistle, trumpet and western-style rhythms, is that title a metaphor for the fact that you always want to face new musical frontiers?

That’s a nice way to put it! Haven’t thought of it like that but it’s What I will say from now on, (he laughs – Editor’s note)! In my opinion it’s the most bad ass song on the album & it’s got a bit of everything from it. We thought it would be a nice introduction for what’s to come when you put on the album.

I love the whole album, listening to it the first time I didn’t know what to expect with each track. Were you immediately satisfied with your record the first time you listened to it entirely?

Love to hear that! Thank you! Yes, it was a thrill to write and record. Is i mentioned we started working on some of the material way back so I’ve listened to the songs like a million times! We’re very proud of what we’ve made.

I venture to say that Queen, if they were still in the original line-up, would sound like you today. Do you agree with me? How important were they for you?

That is very flattering! It’s one of my absolute favorite bands and a huge inspiration to me! Muse are hat I consider a ”Modern Queen”. It’s the trying out new things and just doing what you think is fun and sound exiting that makes that sound in my opinion. Their Music might be a bit controversial but that’s What I love!

In fact I feel influences that come from Muse but also from The Ark. I guess you love them too, am I wrong?

We do! I do! I believe ”It takes a fool to remain sane” is masterpiece. And once again, I do love my Muse!

Would you feel ready to write a musical?

That is a dream for me! I suppose it shows a bit in this album. The theatrical and dramatic belongs very well the music of Reach. If I’d get the band on it well arrange a musical if things turn out real well for us!

Tell me a little about the video for “The Law”, who came up with the idea and who made it?

Well it was very much a team effort of the band, our label & obviously the director & Producer Johan Lundsten. The song itself came with a vision I had for a video but Johan made it happen in ways I could not imagine us doing it! A joy really.

Whose idea was the artwork and who created it?

Vagelis (IG:Revolverdart) is responsible for 98% of the artwork. He was given the album for inspiration and the first thing he came to us with we just loved. Over all we’ve had an amazing crew putting this album together. Recording the songs was the easy part!

For those who don’t know you, would you like to say how you met and when did you decide to form Reach?

Me & Marcus met about 10 years ago during band auditions. It was not long before we both Quit that band and formed Reach. Zouf has been a friend since before that at he came to us when Reach was ready for him vice versa! This band was meant to be what we are and if anyone drops out Reach will be put on hold till that person returns.

Now that live music is still inactive how do you plan to promote the album?

We were worried about this but the singles have been doing really well, way over expectation. ICEA are not worried and they know what they’re doing so we do our best to keep up with their work. Sooner or later this pandemic Will end and then we’ll get a chance to do our part!

Thank you very much for your time, would you like to add something?

Great questions and once again, thank you for having us. To all you Reachers out there, we love you and your support in these testing times means the world to us. If you’re new to Reach we welcome you to our weird little family! Take care of yourself and we hope to see you soon! Love
