Lorquin’s Admiral è una collaborazione unica, ricca di riff accattivanti, chitarre e psichedelia, che vede la partecipazione di membri attuali ed ex di Afghan Whigs, Fizz Fuzz, Hermano, Luna Sol, Orquesta del Desierto, Sons of Alpha Centauri e Yawning Sons.
Proseguendo la collaborazione di scrittura iniziata tra Marlon King, Nick Hannon e Dandy Brown per l’acclamato album degli Yawning Sons “Sky Island“, Lorquin’s Admiral sfrutta tutti gli elementi psichedelici dei loro lavori precedenti con riff animosi e contagiosamente pesanti. Per addolcire il tutto, Lorquin’s Admiral ha reclutato come ospiti David Angstrom e Country Mark Engel per aggiungere le loro inconfondibili e ipnotiche tessiture chitarristiche all’album di debutto del gruppo. Angstrom, noto per aver sfoggiato le sue ricche sonorità sia in Hermano che in Luna Sol, dà il suo contributo a sette brani del disco. La maestria di Country Mark nel creare sontuosi paesaggi sonori è evidente in due brani della raccolta.
Ricordando i sapori del desert rock, ma con influenze altrettanto intense, blues, psichedelia e musica alternativa sperimentale, Lorquin’s Admiral è facilmente accessibile sia ai fan di Kyuss, Fu Manchu e Fatso Jetson, sia ai fan di Cranberries, Screaming Trees e Garbage. Occupando un posto unico tra le band heavy-psichedeliche che stanno evolvendo il genere “stoner rock“, Lorquin’s Admiral esplora l’inesplorato e sostiene che il rock è tutt’altro che morto.
Mentre tutte le canzoni dell’album riflettono esperienze profondamente emotive, l’ispirazione dietro Aren’t We, oggi in anteprima esclusiva su Tuttorock, deriva dall’osservazione delle assurdità che gli esseri umani usano per definire le proprie vite. Il brano stesso è uno specchio di come la musica e l’arte in generale ci permettano di intravedere concetti esistenziali e i nostri tentativi di immortalare e frenare l’assurdo. In fin dei conti, però, è solo una canzone, forse solo una “canzone d’amore”, tra miliardi di altre canzoni che le persone usano per conforto, senso di appartenenza o qualsiasi altra cosa di cui abbiano bisogno per raccogliersi e aggrapparsi alla sfilata dei momenti che costituiscono le nostre vite.

Continuing a writing collaboration that began between Marlon King, Nick Hannon, and Dandy Brown for the critically acclaimed Yawning Sons album “Sky Island“, Lorquin’s Admiral harnesses all the psychedelic elements of their previous work within soulful and contagiously heavy riffs. Layered with the harmonies of husband-and-wife team Dawn and Dandy Brown, and hypnotically driven by renowned drummer Steve Earle, the group’s debut album (pre-order link: https://bit.ly/LorquinsAdmiral) brings together a core line-up of members whose musical contributions are recognized across a broad spectrum of genres.
Sweetening the pot, Lorquin’s Admiral recruited guest performers David Angstrom and Country Mark Engel to add their distinctive and mesmerizing guitar textures throughout the group’s debut album. The song itself is a mirror to how music and art in general allow us a glimpse into existential concepts and our attempts to immortalize and rein in the absurd. In the end, though, it’s really just a song, perhaps just a “love song”, among billions of other songs people use for comfort, belonging, or whatever else they need to gather in and hold onto the parade of moments that constitute our lives.
